Choosing The Right Solar Panel Size For Your Home

The solar panel size that would work for you is actually dependent on a few factors. First, and perhaps the most important, is the amount of electricity you would be requiring from your solar-powered device. Of course, since the amount of solar electricity that you can obtain is directly related to solar panel size, then you should determine this amount first before going out and getting your own solar panel. The more solar energy you would want collected by your solar panel for conversion into electricity, then the bigger the solar panel size should be. To give you a general idea, a 2-foot solar panel can probably provide about 50 watts of power.

After you have determined the amount of power that you would be requiring from your solar panel, another consideration for determining the proper solar panel size is the space that you have in your area to install it. Is there a spot in your yard that gets hit by the sun directly, and if so, is it large enough for you to position your solar panel there? For most people though, the best location for them to place the solar panel is on their roof, since it is usually the area which gets exposed to sunlight the most. If you do decide to install your solar panel on your roof, then first determine whether its space can contain the solar panel size or the number of solar panels that you wish to install.

If you realize that there isn’t enough space in your area to hold a large solar panel after all, then no need to worry. Solar panel size is determinable not just in the sense of a full-scale size, but can even come in smaller dimensions as well. If you just want to try out first how solar energy would function in your home, and thus would not need to power up so many appliances at once, you can opt for a portable solar panel. The small solar panel size still packs in a lot of power, and can be used to charge your gadgets such as your digital camera, MP3 player, cellular phone, and perhaps a laptop. Best of all, portable solar panels are very cheap and can go for as low as $20, allowing you to still enjoy the benefits of solar energy without having to break the bank.
